Cedara Software has a rich history in developing custom solutions for companies in the medical imaging markets. Many OEMs have worked with Cedara to complement their internal development groups; sometimes, to take advantage of an innovative technology offered by Cedara. Most have a common end goal: to bring their product to market as fast as possible.
Cedara began developing custom solutions – Custom Engineering – in the early 1990’s with landmark projects developing scanner consoles for some of the largest companies in medical imaging. Creating robust, versatile software is always a challenge and especially so in medical imaging. Our customer’s technological needs are very high, but so is their demand for reliability and up-time. Software always has to be easy to use with great clinical workflow, often with high connectivity needs for solutions that work right, first time, in the field.
These needs would be difficult enough, but today’s market is one of fierce competition and grueling delivery cycles. Yet despite these challenges, Cedara’s customers have been highly successful year after year, and part of the reason for this is the strength of their relationship with Cedara: speed to market, and the quality of the products developed with Cedara.
Looking back to the projects mentioned above we find an amazing success story: these products have become flagship products for their companies, representing huge differentiation and value. This is the picture today - 14 years later. They have been so successful that 50% of MRI scans taken today use software developed by Cedara, software that has supported over $2 Billion of systems sales for our clients.
Cedara’s custom engineering group is one of the largest and most successful operations in the industry, working with a broad range of companies, large and small. Cedara’s people are highly qualified with supplementary training in medical imaging, anatomy and physiology, and software engineering methodology. They apply engineering rigor in what they do – and regularly go beyond the call of duty in developing great solutions to difficult problems, working with clients to incorporate leap-frog technologies, and to add flare and ingenuity into a client’s products. Cedara’s custom engineering staff have many years of service, typically, with a genuine vocation for this area of software engineering and computer science. Although Cedara’s name is not usually on the products they create, they take great pride and satisfaction in all they do.
Cedara’s custom engineering services are unique in combining advanced technologies that can dramatically cut down engineering times and provide cutting edge capabilities to clients’ products. Over the years Cedara has developed the Cedara OpenEyes Platform which has become a defacto industry standard in medical imaging - being adopted by 2 out of the 3 largest OEM companies. With thousands of deployed workstations, consoles and components, and hundreds of thousands of subsequent feedback and experience hours by radiologists and physicians, it is a supremely stable and functional base to any clinical applications.
