Cedara I-Connect, A Full-Featured Digital Acquisition Platform
![]() |
Cedara I-Connect built with Cedara OpenEyes™ and Cedara xPipe™ |
Cedara I-Connect is a new acquisition console software platform. Cedara I-Connect draws upon decades of experience designing and building consoles for the world's leading OEMs, and mates a modern user interface and workflow to Merge OEM's field hardened DICOM and imaging technologies. Cedara I-Connect provides an advanced starting point for anyone seeking to go to market in the rapidly expanding DR marketplace.
Cedara I-Connect is a full featured software package providing all the necessary elements required in an acquisition console for today's highly networked and integrated world. All you need to do is add your generator and your panel. Cedara I-Connect integrates the full suite of Cedara xPipe advanced image processing tools and is based on the Cedara OpenEyes Image Processing Toolkit.
Time is Money
DR has the ability to produce very high quality diagnostic images. Getting there can take a lot of time if any processing needs to be done manually. Shutter removal, image enhancement and window level can be time consuming steps in the image acquisition process. Cedara I-Connect fully automates these steps, eliminating the need for costly manual adjustment.
Plug your Hardware into our Generic Acquisition Service
You pick the hardware that is right for you. There are many generators and detectors in the marketplace to choose from to give your organization a competitive advantage.
Merge OEM provides a published programming interface where OEMs may integrate X-Ray generators and detectors to the Cedara I-Connect framework. To assist the integrator, a sample simulator, an interface test harness and a reference implementation of a Varian 4343R flat panel integration is provided with the platform.
Register Patients and Select Acquisition Protocols
In a perfect world all patient demographics would be supplied before the patient shows up. Cedara I-Connect ensures required patient data is present before allowing the scanning process to begin. This eliminates problems later on if the PACS rejects scans because some critical item was missed during the registration process. Cedara I-Connect streamlines the clinical workflow through the use of fully customizable acquisition protocols. Every clinical practice operates differently. Cedara I-Connect makes it easy by including a comprehensive graphical protocol editor. Everything down to the smallest detail can be customized to suit on-site preferences.
Integrated Generator Controls and Guided Protocols
All the steps in the acquisition workflow are neatly assembled into a modern, easy-to-use interface. Big buttons are designed for use in touch screen environments. All the poses and views required by a protocol are presented in an easy-to-follow graphical format. As views are acquired, previews are replaced with real images. Protocols can also include automated steps such as image stitching† that will begin as soon as the last view in a sequence is captured.
Customizable User Interface and Workflow
Merge OEM provides a reference implementation for the following key workflows:
Protocol-based static DR
Scheduled and unscheduled exams
Emergency exam
Suspended exam
Image Review QC
Image Stitching†
Printing
Single Media Archive with embedded viewer
The platform supports basic customization "out of the box". The splashscreen, company logo and colour theme can be changed as a service configuration at runtime.
The more advanced integrator with .NET development capabilities may change the user interface skin and basic workflow elements of the reference implementation.
Designed to Existing Standards
Cedara I-Connect is centered on the DICOM description of images, so that you have a familiar standard at the core of the toolkit. Cedara I-Connect operations are built around this data-centric model, providing them with a powerful engine. The toolkit has a modular design, with each module providing the services you need, from acquisition to storage.
Cedara I-Connect supports the latest Microsoft® Windows® platform technologies, including the .NET platform (C# language), the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) user interface toolkit, and Microsoft SQL Server® Express 2008.
